Product Overview

The Vision

Writing a memoir — or a play, or a novel, or a personal essay — is not just writing. It’s archaeology. It means digging through decades of experience, sifting emotional rubble, and finding the gold buried beneath. The Writer’s Hearth was built for exactly this process.

The platform was born from a real collaboration: helping an author navigate the deeply personal journey of writing a memoir about the cost of integrity, the unexpected figures who protect us in crisis, and the courage it takes to deconstruct a lifetime of fixed beliefs.

What emerged is a writing tool that doesn’t overwhelm. It asks one question at a time. It remembers everything. It mines your own archives for forgotten gold. And it treats your story with the reverence it deserves.

“One question. One memory. One breath at a time.”

Who Is This For?

The Writer’s Hearth is designed for writers, journalers, and personal storytellers who:

• Have a lifetime of experiences to organize but feel overwhelmed by where to start

• Want an AI writing companion that listens, asks smart questions, and never rushes

• Have archives of emails, documents, and manuscripts that contain buried material

• Need structure (Table of Contents, chapters, scenes) but also creative freedom

• Prefer “small bites” — working on one memory, one scene, one detail at a time

• Work with collaborators — editors, writing partners, or trusted readers

• Value the process of discovery as much as the finished manuscript

• Want a private journaling space — for morning reflections, gratitude, dream journals, or simply thinking out loud

• Want to share a journal with someone they love — a grandchild, a writing partner, a friend — where writing becomes conversation

The Creative Pipeline

The Hearth follows a natural creative progression — from raw spark to finished prose:

1. The Kindling Box — The earliest stage. Raw flashes with no home yet: a smell, a phrase, a face. No structure, no pressure. Just “that happened.”

2. Scene Cards — Structured exploration. A flash becomes a scene worth telling, explored through Samuel’s deepening questions.

3. Clippings — The things worth keeping from your sessions with Samuel. Pinned responses, saved conversations — organized by your book’s structure.

4. Manuscript — Where Scene Cards, Clippings, and discoveries become chapters. Write with Samuel at your side.

Core Features

📚 Collections

Every writing project lives inside a Collection — a book, a journal, or a creative project. Each collection gets its own Table of Contents, Scene Cards, Workbench, Manuscript, Book Profile, and AI context. Create as many as you need.

📖 Scene Cards & Deepening Questions

Structured building blocks that capture defining moments with personalized fields. Samuel asks one deepening question at a time, drawing out sensory details and emotional truths. Fields adapt to your book’s language via AI personalization.

🤖 Samuel David — Writing Companion

An AI companion who reads your Book Profile and adapts to your project’s voice, themes, and structure. Acts as a “gold digger” — mining wisdom through contextual, intelligent conversation. By default, Samuel never writes your prose; his drafting features are opt-in and gated.

Book Profile & Craft Config

A creative brief for each collection — genre, audience, voice, emotional tone. Samuel reads this profile and personalizes Scene Card fields, deepening questions, and every piece of guidance to speak your book’s language.

The Kindling Box

A home for sparks before they have one. Quick-capture with voice input for loose thoughts that aren’t ready to be filed. Promote them to Scene Cards or collection entries when the home reveals itself.

📌 Clippings

A persistent creative archive. Pin individual Samuel responses or batch-save entire sessions. Auto-tagged by chapter context. Browse, copy, move to chapters, or continue the conversation.

Manuscript & Structure Tools

✍️ Manuscript Workspace

A chapter-level writing surface with inline AI assistance. Write with Samuel as your companion, reference scene cards in a side panel, and auto-save with versioning. Opt-in “Draft from Scenes” can weave your scene cards into a first-pass draft — gated by consent, marked permanently with Samuel’s hand.

📚 Live Table of Contents

Drag-and-drop reordering of sections, chapters, and interludes. A living, always-current view of your book’s structure with visual distinction for each content type.

🎶 Interludes

Free-floating content blocks — poems, dedications, epigraphs, afterwords — that live in the spaces between chapters and sections. Place them anywhere in the manuscript, or keep them in a holding space until you know where they belong.

🏗️ Manuscript Architect

Holistic AI analysis of your manuscript’s structure, themes, and gaps — accessed from within your collection. Actionable suggestions for restructuring — move scenes, reorder chapters, create new chapters — with one-click application.

📄 Draft Review & Export

Select sections and chapters, preview assembled prose with word counts, and export as a formatted PDF or plain text file. Reading copies on demand.

🔍 Synthesis Studio

Select a scene card and have the AI surface its themes, patterns, and connections — from within your collection’s workspace. Opt-in “Draft Prose” can weave a short narrative passage — gated by consent, marked with Samuel’s hand.

Research & Intelligence Tools

📧 Source Materials

Universal intake for all source types: email archives, text exports, audio transcripts, PDFs, Word docs. Upload individually or as ZIP archives. Accessed from within each collection — share the same library across multiple projects.

🧩 Email Intelligence & Pattern Detection

AI mines imported email archives for gold nuggets, emotional turning points, and recurring themes — scoped to each collection. Cross-source patterns earn gold badges. Send discoveries directly to the Manuscript via the Placement Advisor.

📂 Workbench

A per-collection document library. Upload drafts, research, reference PDFs — everything in one organized drawer. If you upload a manuscript, Samuel can read it and propose a Table of Contents structure.

🔒 Audit Trail

Full mutation logging with diffs, version snapshots, and one-click revert. Track every change to every scene, card, draft, and chapter. Filter by user, entity type, or date range.

Collaboration & Sharing

The Writer’s Hearth supports a full author-managed collaboration model. As an author, you can:

Create accounts for your collaborators directly from “My People” — no signup forms, no email verification needed

Share collections — invite collaborators to specific books or journals

Control access levels — Full Access (see everything) or Writer Only (simplified write/read view)

Manage passwords — reset credentials for anyone you created

Collaborators land in a clean, focused experience showing only the collections shared with them. No dashboard clutter, no tool overwhelm — just the work they were invited to contribute to.

A built-in Sharing Guide walks new authors through the two-step process: create the person in My People, then add them as a collaborator on the collection.

Beyond the Book

Not every writer is writing a book — and The Writer’s Hearth was built for that too. Create a journal collection for private reflection, morning pages, or creative practice. The same tools that power a memoir — Scene Cards, the Kindling Box, Samuel’s deepening questions — work beautifully for personal journaling.

And journals are made for sharing. Create an account for someone you trust, share a journal with them, and write back and forth — like letters between people who care. They log in and see only what you’ve shared. You control the space. They bring the words.

The Dream Journal

The Dream Journal isn’t a dream dictionary. It’s a living space where your dreams are held, witnessed through multiple interpretive lenses, and deepened through dialogue. The real richness comes not from the initial reading, but from the interaction that follows — your associations, your memories, the moments when a symbol suddenly clicks into place.

Activate it — Create any collection with the word “dream” in its name — “Dream Journal,” “Night Visions & Dreams,” anything. Every entry inside automatically gets dream analysis features. The entries themselves can have any title; it’s the collection name that activates the reading option.

Capture — Record your dream by voice or text, as fragments or as a full telling.

Choose your voices — Select from five interpretive lenses: Freud, Jung, Gestalt (Perls), Hillman (Archetypal/Soul), or Contemplative/Spiritual. Pick one voice or several — each hears something different in the same dream.

Get a reading — Samuel opens with a provisional reading, never a verdict. Then the conversation begins: you add waking-life associations, the voices respond, and the interpretation reshapes with each new detail you bring.

Proxy dreams — Enter someone else’s dream on their behalf. The voice setup adjusts for the dreamer’s gender — two taps for your own dream, three for someone else’s.

Listen — Generate audio of the dream and Samuel’s final integrated reading, rendered in distinct voices. The reading audio captures Samuel’s complete synthesis — the last full interpretation that weaves in all your associations — not the intermediate back-and-forth. Listen during a walk, in the car, or as a way to sit with the dream again.

Download — Save the dream text, Samuel’s final reading, or both as a PDF or text file. Keep a clean record outside the platform — for personal archives, sharing with a therapist, or revisiting later.

Return anytime — The thread is never sealed. Come back days, weeks, or months later with new associations. Dreams keep teaching.

The dream doesn’t get decoded. It gets witnessed — from angles you wouldn’t reach alone.

The Idea Behind It

Most writers don’t struggle with having too little to say — they struggle with having too much. A lifetime of experiences, relationships, turning points, and quiet revelations all competing for attention. The result is often paralysis: where do I even start?

The Writer’s Hearth was built on a simple belief: the best writing happens when you feel safe, unhurried, and gently guided. Instead of staring at a blank page, the writer engages in conversation — with an AI companion that listens, asks the right question at the right time, and helps them discover what they already know but haven’t yet articulated.

Excavation, not invention — The stories are already inside the writer. The platform helps unearth them.

Structure without rigidity — Flexible organization that grows with the story.

Personalized, not generic — Every tool speaks your book’s language, calibrated by your Book Profile.

Small bites, big results — One question, one memory, one detail at a time — no overwhelm.

Your archives are goldmines — Old emails, documents, and messages contain forgotten material. AI mines them for you.

From fragments to manuscript — Sparks in the Kindling Box become scene cards. Conversations become clippings. Clippings become chapters.

AI & Your Writing

The ethic is simple: you should never be confused about who wrote what.

By default, Samuel never writes your prose. He asks questions, holds your scenes, listens patiently, and reflects back what he hears — but the words on the page remain yours. That’s the baseline, and it stays the baseline unless you choose otherwise.

If you ever want Samuel to draft — to stitch scenes into a chapter or turn a synthesized thread into prose — the door is there. But it only opens when you open it, and every word he writes carries his mark permanently, so you’ll always know which passages came from your hand and which came from his.

Three workspace preferences: Ask every time (the safe default), Accept freely (for writers who want flow), or Never offer (to keep Samuel purely in question mode).

Per-collection override: A memoir can ask every time; a journal can let Samuel flow freely. You choose.

Four-option gate when drafting is offered: Accept into the draft, hold Read-only for comparison, Set aside for later, or Discard. The path is always visible, and nothing is ever forced.

Permanent authorship trace: Samuel’s hand mark stays with every AI passage, so when you export, share, or revisit months later, the provenance of every word is clear.

The ethic hasn’t changed. The implementation has simply gotten more honest: default protection for writers who want Samuel to stay in his seat, and a clearly marked drafting door for writers who want more.

Under the Hood

Secure & Private: Your writing is yours alone. Each user’s data is completely isolated, connections are encrypted, and the AI never trains on your content.

Intelligent AI: Personalized AI prompts adapt to each collection’s Book Profile, voice, and themes — Samuel speaks your book’s language.

Cloud-Based: Access from any device. Documents, source materials, and audio files are stored securely in the cloud.

Author-Managed Access: You control who enters your workspace. Create accounts, set permissions, reset passwords — no third-party gatekeepers.
